As you may be aware, Blackwell Post Office is currently closed and rumours abound that the branch will not re-open. The latest news from the Central Post Office is that Blackwell Post Office is now "permanently closed."

23/10/2008      Blackwell is blooming good!

Blackwell villagers and school children joined forces this morning to create a lasting tribute to a much-loved resident of Blackwell. Approximately 500 daffodil bulbs were planted within the village in memory of Mrs Jean Orton, who lived in Blackwell for many years and who passed away recently.

Recent work taking place in the field behind Deamon Street has shown to be work by the electricity board laying an electrical supply ready to be used by a company to outcrop on the Engine Site in Westhouses.

23/10/2008      BRAG Autumn Fayre raises £300

Blackwell Residents' Action Group held its Autumn Fayre on Saturday 4th October. Despite the rain, the event was well attended and £300 was raised to put towards community projects.

The Derbyshire Handy Van Network is open to those who are 60 and over and live in the Bolsover District. Each household will be able to access this free service twice a year. The Service is available from 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday.

PCSO Paul Brownlee is the new Police Community Support Officer for Blackwell. PCSO Brownlee replaces PCSO Claire Pass who left in July 2008.

Blackwell Residents' Action Group has learned that opencasting work is due to begin in the area soon. The area known as the "Engine Shed Site" in Westhouses will be mined by a company who said that the work will start "in a few weeks."

Blackwell Residents’ Action Group held its monthly committee meeting and arranged a litter pick for September and an Autumn Fayre for the 4th October.
